Dear Training Officers Consortium Community,

I am excited to send this letter as the newly appointed Chair of the TOC Executive Board. I have served on the Board in various positions for the past six years and am honored to take on this new responsibility. My main objective for this year is to lead a large change effort to shape the future of TOC. I look forward to collaborating with my fellow board members, volunteers, and esteemed partners in pursuit of continuous improvement. 

The past few years have brought many changes for the TOC program. After the pandemic, our usual monthly luncheon speaker series experienced a decline of in-person attendance, so we experimented with a hybrid learning option. Recognizing the limitations of hybrid delivery and embracing the new normal of telework/remote work, the Board pivoted to a quarterly topic-centric set of events, which combined webinars and a half-day in-person workshop. Although slow to gain traction, the last topic events were highly attended, and we saw the spark of interest return to our community.

The Annual Institute remains our premiere event and this year we welcomed over 50 first time attendees! The energy and excitement were reflected in the feedback we received and further buoyed our resolve that TOC adds great learning and development value for our community members. We are thrilled to build on that momentum as we prepare for our next program year.

In the 2023-2024 TOC Program Year, you can look forward to quarterly events focused on professional development topics delivered by subject matter experts. We also plan to cultivate relationships with mission-related partners to expand your network and broaden learning opportunities. 

We will continue to evolve to meet the needs expressed by our community members. As we curate events for this program year, we will be hard at work behind the scenes shaping the future of TOC, which will be unveiled during our 2024 Annual Institute (location and date coming soon)!
