Dear TOC Registrants and Friends,
The Training Officers Consortium (TOC) Executive Board is actively tracking the latest news surrounding the coronavirus or “COVID-19” outbreak and the various authorities’ guidance. As a result of the current situation and out of an abundance of safety for our TOC family, we have a few programmatic updates to share:
- 2020 Annual Institute: We are suspending the Annual Institute, originally scheduled for April 19-22 in Ocean City, MD. The Board is currently evaluating the situation and exploring options to deliver the same impact to our community in a safe and timely manner. We will provide additional updates as more information becomes available.
- April 14 Professional Development Program: The April in-person program has been cancelled.
- May 12 Professional Development Program: At this time, we are monitoring the situation and have not made any decisions to change this event. We will continue to provide timely updates as the situation develops.
With all the rapidly changing news of late about the COVID-19 outbreak around the world, we want to reassure all of our registrants and attendees that the TOC Executive Board is taking the matter very seriously. As a Board, we are meeting on a regular and frequent basis to keep track of the news and the guidance from our Federal and state authorities. We are also actively evaluating alternatives for the Institute and our monthly Professional Development Program.
To restate, we will NOT hold the TOC Annual Institute from April 19-22 in Ocean City. This is a fluid situation, one that we’re monitoring and adjusting to as it develops. As we learn more details and the situation changes, we will be sure to deliver the transparency and communication that has come to be expected from our Training Officers Consortium community. Additional event news and updates will be coming from the TOC Executive Board on a regular basis.
Please stay tuned for future, regular communication from TOC on the status of planned activities and/or alternatives.
Rhonda Carter
Chair, TOC Executive Board
